An interdisciplinary research institute exploring the deep symbiotic relationship between forest ecosystems and human awareness. Join us in pioneering a new paradigm of ecological mindfulness.
Founded in the heart of Maine's ancient forests, the Maine Institute of Forest Consciousness (MIFC) is a pioneering center dedicated to exploring and deepening the connection between forest ecosystems and human consciousness.
As we move into 2026, our mission has evolved to address the urgent ecological and spiritual challenges of our time. We believe that the future of humanity is inextricably linked to the health of our forests, and that true sustainability requires both scientific understanding and profound personal transformation.
Our 200-acre campus serves as both a living laboratory and a sanctuary for researchers, practitioners, and seekers from around the world. Here, traditional ecological knowledge meets cutting-edge scientific research, and mindfulness practices are interwoven with environmental stewardship.
"To advance interdisciplinary research at the nexus of forest ecology, human consciousness, and cultural transformation; to develop practical frameworks for ecological stewardship rooted in mindfulness; and to cultivate a global community committed to the reciprocal healing of forests and humanity."
